Tumpak Sewu Waterfall gained widespread recognition through social media and the internet after being awarded the Best Tourist Attraction in East Java in 2018. This accolade was presented by the Head of the East Java Culture and Tourism Office (Kadisbudpar) at the Mercure Hotel in Surabaya on October 23, 2018.

In this area, you can view Tumpak Sewu Waterfall from a high vantage point, especially when the weather is clear. You can see the waterfall with the majestic backdrop of Mount Semeru directly behind it. Additionally, to reach this spot, you'll need to walk about 400 meters from the ticket booth. The path to this spot is downhill. If you don't want to walk down from the ticket booth, you can use the local motorcycle taxi service available around the parking area of the tourist site. The price of a motorbike taxi to this place is around IDR 10,000 per person.
Bottom Waterfall Tumpak Sewu

Once you've enjoyed the breathtaking view of Tumpak Sewu from above, you might want to explore the waterfall from below, also known as the bottom waterfall spot. To reach this spot, you'll need to descend about 600 meters down a staircase located beside the panoramic viewpoint. However, there are a few things to consider before making the descent. The pathway to the bottom waterfall involves not only stairs but also some unpaved trails with water trickling down from the hillside. So, wearing sturdy, non-slip boots is essential for this trek, ensuring your safety on the slightly slippery terrain. However, if you forget to bring or don't have suitable footwear, you can rent boots at Yanto Homestay located in the Tumpak Sewu parking area. In addition to footwear, there are several important things to consider:

- Descending is prohibited for visitors under 10 years old and over 60 years old.
- Descending after 3:00 PM is not allowed.
- Descending during rainy conditions is prohibited.
- Those with a fear of heights or asthma are not allowed to descend.
Nirwana Cliff – Tourist Spot in Tumpak Sewu

Once you descend the stairs and reach the bottom of Tumpak Sewu waterfall, you have the option to either return to the top or continue your journey to this scenic spot. At Bukit Nirwana Tumpak Sewu, you'll be treated to breathtaking views and an inspiring atmosphere. It's not uncommon to see some visitors enjoying wall climbing here.
Telaga Biru – Crystal-Clear Mountain Spring Water.

Telaga Biru or Blue Lake is nestled alongside the Nirwana Cliff. This spot truly offers an exceptional ambiance. Similar to most lakes, it's a water reservoir formed from the cascade of water from the Nirwana Cliff, filling up the area. Here, you can soak and relax while enjoying the clarity of the water. Goa Tetes – Stalactite Cave in Tumpak Sewu

From the Nirwana Cliff and the Telaga Biru, visitors can reach this attraction by ascending several stairs and traversing wet pathways, adding an exciting touch to the adventure. Despite the journey's challenges, the sense of satisfaction upon arrival is truly fulfilling. Here, you can indulge in bathing atop the hill in the refreshing, crystal-clear water, reminiscent of a luxurious rooftop pool. What distinguishes this experience is its natural, untouched setting and the invigorating water.
Moreover, you'll find stalactite formations adorning the cave, enhancing the charm of the place. It's a remarkable and complete destination where various rare features converge seamlessly. In this waterfall area, there are so many rare spots that come together. From here, you can either head towards the waterfall exit, which entails climbing about 500 meters of stairs, or you can return to the ticket booth before making your way to the bottom waterfall.
Route to Tumpak Sewu from Malang
To get to Tumpak Sewu, if you depart from Malang city (e.g from Alun – alun Malang). You can go through the Jl. Kyai Tamin – Jl. Raya Gadang – Jl. Raya Lowokdoro – Jl. Raya Tambak Rejo – Jl, Raya Bululawang – Jl. Raya Krebet and continue following Jalan Nasional towards Turen – Dampit – Ampelgading – Lumajang, which takes around 2 hours. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Opening Hours
The operating hours of Tumpak Sewu are from 07.00 AM to 04.00 PM. It's strongly advised not to descend below the waterfall after 03.00 PM, and it may even be prohibited by the tour management. Therefore, you can only visit the Tumpak Sewu panorama spot during that time.
Admission Ticket for Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and its surrounding area.
To enter the Tumpak Sewu area (Panorama Tumpak Sewu and Bottom Waterfall), visitors will be charged a ticket of IDR 20,000 per person. For foreign tourists, there is an additional IDR 20,000 per person. Meanwhile, for the tourist areas like Nirwana Cliff, Telaga Biru, and Goa Tetes, visitors will be charged an additional fee of IDR 10,000 per person when in the lower area of the waterfall.
Accommodation around Tumpak Sewu

If you wish to stay near the Tumpak Sewu waterfall area, you can book a room according to your needs provided by the Yanto Homestay.
