Like many other mountains, Mount Bromo has a cool, refreshing atmosphere, but the temperature can drop to as low as 10 degrees Celsius. So, make sure to bring a thick jacket to keep yourself warm. It's not just about fashion or looking good— comfort is key in this chilly environment.

2. Wear a Scarf, Gloves, and Beanie

While you could wear sandals and socks, we recommend wearing shoes for better warmth and comfort. If you plan to see the sunrise at Mount Bromo, shoes will keep your feet warm against the morning dew and chilly wind.

4. Wear Layers of Clothing

Besides the items mentioned above, we strongly recommend wearing layers of clothing. This helps keep you warm and ensures you don't get too cold while at Bromo. Avoid wearing thin clothes that don't provide enough warmth.

5. Wear a Mask

Mountains often have strong winds compared to urban areas. To avoid inhaling dust carried by the wind, it's essential to wear a mask. This will protect your breathing and prevent you from coughing due to dust.

6. Bring a Small Flashlight

A small flashlight is optional but highly recommended if you plan to see the sunrise from the mountain peak. Some paths are not well-lit, so a flashlight is handy. If you're not going to see the sunrise or are traveling during the day, you don't need to bring one.

Starting from December 1, 2019, you can't just walk into Gunung Bromo. The Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS) requires all visitors to book online first. This helps avoid traffic jams and long lines at the ticket booth.

As of this article is updated (March 31, 2020), not all visitors book online, but in the future, TNBTS might limit or even prohibit entry without an online reservation. Here’s the link to make your booking before visiting Bromo.
